University Interview - The Outcome!

I’m in!
Last night I went for my interview to gain a place on the BA (Hons) IT & Organisation degree. I could have been on the degree program last year but just joined too late. The degree is a 6 year course split into modules worth either 10 or 20 credits each. These take 12 or 24 weeks respectively, with each semester being 12 weeks long. The norm is to complete 120 credits at each level (1-3) over 2 years per level.
The interview was really a formality due to me having spent the last year at the University shadowing the other degree students and picking up some module credits in:
Study Skills in Higher Education
Information Resources
Working with ICT
Introduction to Access Databases
Effective Web Page Design
Practical Web Site Development
All those modules were worth 10 credits and the top 4 were mandatory to all students. The same will follow in the 2nd year starting around October time. 40 credits worth or mandatory modules in:
Elements of Computing (20 credits)
Technical Writing
Information Handling
With an optional 20 credits. This is where my eyes opened up. I cannot say that any of the mandatory modules really look exciting to me but I’m hoping to either pick up a 20 credit photoshop module or if I’m allowed to join the Computer Science students through the day and do a couple of 10 credit Basic Java Programming and Problem Solving.
I’m lucky that I’m now in a job that is more flexible and that will allow me to be able to attend these session. It was mentioned that they will probably be made up from 4-6 lectures and then some seminars and other sessions. This is what I imagined Uni to really be like so it will be nice to get a taste of the real action. There is one sticking point, most of the people on the course will have done A Level maths which gives me plenty to do over the summer months brushing up on some geometry etc.
That said I cannot wait to get back to Uni in the Autumn.

Awesome! Keep up the good work. One day it’ll all be over, and you can start making the big bucks!
