Arriving Early = Productivity
filed in Study on Apr.25, 2008
Well last night I got to class early, almost an hour early. There is only one thing I can say about that, and that is it turned out to be very productive. This is probably because this class was in a room in the Information Commons, a huge multistory library/study facility that I must admit is absolutely fantastic. It is full of books, computers, quiet study areas, social study areas, a cafe, open access class rooms and probably more, best of all its open 24 hours a day.
Anyway before class I game up with a few ideas for changing the main site that this blog is hosted on, came up with some possible idea for other sites, found a great tool I’ll blog about soon and did my homework prepared my assignment plan, which was generally the topic and sections of my web site. I think I have planned parts that are unrealistic in terms of ability but I guess I’d like to stretch myself so that is what I am doing.
In class we talked about the constraints and other issues surrounding the different media of the web. (Like how frigg’n annoying it is when you get audio auto playing as soon as the site loads - I hate that). It also covered the unpredictability of the different possible set ups and how many ways it can effect the simple task of playing a linked mp3 file.
Would anyone be interested for me to upload the slides from any of the sessions? I guess that sort of links into what I wanted to do with the main site which is basically acting as a landing page for this blog. To be honest writing simple HTML tutorials is probably going to get binned and look at more intermediate stuff as I find it more interesting. Any comments?

There are definite advantages to doing this. I typically go over the content for a lecture before I actually go there, and use the time before a lecture starts to go over the content again.
As far as uploading the slides go I’ve always preferred the bespoke approach to Blogging, so maybe it’ll be a good idea to publish them in a series of posts? It would be hard work to type up slides and get them perfectly tailored to a Blog but as far as SEO goes the content would be absolute gold!
